It makes sense that Wellington, the winter playground of equestrians and the horses who love them, would attract the celebs. After all, those well-fitted riding outfits and well-appointed barns aren’t cheap, and that kind of fabulousity attracts fabulous people. The Western communities have seen their share of the rich and famous taking up residence, like the following folks:

Vanilla Ice: He’s known as a rapper and reality TV house rehabber, but locally, Rob Van Winkle is also known as a passionate Wellington resident, who is seen in and around the county eating, stopping, collaborating and listening.

Madonna: The once and future Material Girl spent some time renting a home in Wellington during equestrian season, although she never bought one.

Kelly Klein: The former model, currently an author and photographer, now lives on Palm Beach but owned a stylish condo in Wellington for years.

Bruce Springsteenand Jessica Springsteen: The Boss and wife Patti Scialfa have spent winters here for years. Daughter Jessica, a noted equestrian, has participated in the Winter Equestrian Festival for some time and is a fixture here.

Bill Gates: He’s one of the richest men in the world, a tech genius and a major philanthropist. And if you live in the western communities, he’s also your neighbor, but since he owns several multi-million dollar properties in Wellington, it might be hard to track him down to ask to borrow that cup of sugar.

Michael Bloomberg: The businessman and former Mayor of New York City is often in Wellington with equestrian daughter Georgina.

Mark Badgley: Half of the famed designer team Badgley Mischka, Badgley is also an enthusiastic equestrian who lives in Wellington while he’s riding.

Tommy Lee Jones: The Academy Award-winning actor and polo player has been a seasonal fixture in Wellington for years.

Cassadee Pope: The Wellington High graduate was the lead singer of Wellington-based group Hey Monday! and later won NBC’s “The Voice.” She’s now a well-regarded country singer who played herself on TNN’s “Nashville” last season.

Amy Fisher: The “Long Island Lolita,” who became a tabloid fixture after she shot her older lover’s wife in the face as a teenager, settled down in Wellington.

Tami Hoag: The best-selling mystery writer has been a full-time Wellington resident for about seven years, after visiting off and on since the 1990s.

Lou Palmer: The retired ESPN commentator is a longtime Wellington resident.

Nick Roldan: The polo heartthrob and model lives in Wellington and also dates Jessica Springsteen, because rich, pretty, famous people seem to find each other.

Frank Stallone Sr:The late father of Sylvester “Rocky” Stallone and singer Frank Stallone was a Wellington resident since the 1990s, and was an avid polo player and season ticket holder at International Polo Club Palm Beach.

Jeremy Jacobs:The Boston Bruins owner, philanthropist and businessman was ranked as the 481st richest person in the world by Forbes magazine.

Hannah Selleck:Active annually in the Winter Equestrian Festival, Selleck is not only a rider but television royalty, otherwise known as Daughter of Magnum P.I.

Reed Kessler: The show jumper and daughter of businessman and Lorillard CEO Murray Kessler is a fixture during the Winter Equestrian Festival.

Erin Krakow:The Wellington native and Pathfinder winner is now a star on the Hallmark channel, headlining her own show “When Calls The Heart,” as well as movies on the network.

Ryan Beckett: He didn’t find love on “The Bachelorette” or “Bachelor In Paradise,” but the Realtor and International Polo Club Palm Beach member has found new-found fame. He lived in Wellington for years but now lives in West Palm Beach.

Frank McCourt:The former L.A. Dodgers owner owns an equestrian property in Wellington as well as a home on Palm Beach.

Nick Zano: The “Legends of Tomorrow” and “What I Like About You” actor is a graduate of Wellington High School.

Sean Burnett:The Wellington High grad, currently a free agent, was relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels and was a minor league player with the Philadelphia Phillies organization until March.

Vanessa Rousso : She’s a professional poker player, which helped her finish as a runner-up on CBS’ twisty reality show “Big Brother.” She’s also a Wellington High School graduate.

Arin Hanson: The animator, internet personality, comedian, and musician who goes by the name Egoraptor is a well-known YouTube star who attended Wellington High School.

Tyler Herron: The Wellington High School graduate played for years in the St. Louis Cardinals organization and recently pitched for Team Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

Lorne Michaels:The “Saturday Night Live” creator and producer owns equestrian property in Wellington.

Paige Johnson:Another scion of a famous family involved in the equestrian scene, Johnson, daughter of BET founder Robert and former wife and hotelier Shelia, is a champion rider.

Lou Dobbs: The former CNN commentator, now on Fox Business Network, owns a large property in Wellington, where daughter Hillary has won awards as a show jumper.

Zsa Zsa Gabor:The iconic Hungarian-born actress and socialite once owned a condo in Wellington. She also engaged in all manner of wackiness, because she was Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Joan Lunden: The former “Good Morning America” co-anchor owned a home in the village with husband Jeffrey Konigsberg.
